Healthcare should be part of the unemployed's coverage...sorry I didn't blog this years ago...

Life before 2008 had a large majority of people (but not all) getting their healthcare from their employers.  Also family members were covered but what was once a part of the employees' benefits became an additional cost for the employee if they wanted to cover a spouse and or children.

With the high unemployment of 2008, a double whammy was delivered to many people and of course this affected mostly the middle class and low wage earners.

Not being employed made it hard enough for most people, but of all the times to not have healthcare this was especially devastating.

Thinking about the future we must face the possibility that unemployment may be with us going forward, and this situation will be exasperated by the graying of our population.  Businesses has found that the older workers cost them more money than their younger colleagues.  Even though they lack experience, the employer do not mind the fact that these young workers are less effective, and have no loyalty to their company.  The first to go are the more senior employees.  Many people have noted this especially if they worked for large corporations.

In conclusion, my main points is that healthcare should be part of the unemployed's coverage.  Of course this may be less of a factor if Obama-care or any similar coverage persists.
